Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen was a natural athlete and enjoyed playing tough athletic games. It was this passion that was also matched with an unnatural talent for performing. She took home almost every Feis Award for Theatre and Drama which her nation had to offer. The Abbey Theater was her first choice. Abbey Theater by age 14 in which she explored her love of performing in classical and opera. Charles Laughton was mesmerized after taking an Maureen screen test. He was immediately captivated the beauty of her eyes. Laughton and his friend Erich Pommer changed Maureen FitzSimons' identity to "Maureen O'Hara" which was a shorter name that was used on the marquee. They then cast her as an actress in Jamaica Inn, (1939). Maureen was contracted by Laughton to shoot her next movie in America at RKO Pictures (The Hunchback of Notre The Dame, 1939). Maureen's contract with Laughton was purchased by RKO following the epic film was a great success. Maureen Laughton was involved in two motion picture productions at the age of 19 years old.
